  Shanghai 2012
Governor and First Lady Daugaard visit Daktronics' Shanghai location on a 2012 trade mission to China.

Governor Daugaard is planning a trade mission to China for 2014 and is encouraging South Dakota companies that would like to expand into international markets to join him.

The trip is tentatively scheduled for May 6-15, but is subject to change based on the companies selected to participate.

GOED Commissioner Pat Costello says that South Dakota companies can benefit from exporting.

"Today, more than 70 percent of the world's purchasing power can be found outside of the United States, and there is no reason that South Dakota companies shouldn't be tapping into these potential markets. We are hoping the 2014 trade mission will help South Dakota companies leverage some of this potential."

This is the third trade mission to China that Gov. Daugaard has participated in as governor.

Companies interested in participating can apply here. Preference will be given to companies in the following targeted industries: value added-ag, advanced manufacturing, biosciences, professional business services and energy. Eligible companies will be reimbursed after the trade mission for up to 30 percent of the travel, hotel and visa expenses for one company representative.
