The GOED has two new hires - Erin Budmayr and Marcy Olsen. Budmayr will join the Marketing and Public Relations team as a Marketing Specialist; and Olson as an Administrative Assistant in the Office of Commercialization in Sioux Falls.

Budmayr comes to the GOED from the Pierre Chamber of Commerce where she served as its Communication and Community Outreach Coordinator.

Olson is originally from Huron and graduated from Colorado Technical University in December 2013 with a Criminal Justice degree.

The GOED has partnered with the South Dakota Board of Regents and several state universities to offer a new summer program in information technology. The program consists of a four undergraduate course curriculum established in conjunction with the IT industry.

“South Dakota companies need trained IT professionals and that’s exactly what the summer institute intends to produce,” said Mel Ustad, director of commercialization at the GOED and contributor to the new summer institute.

The program is available to current university and tech school students, as well as others with an aptitude for IT and a desire to pursue a career in the IT field. Standard and fast track options are currently available to participants.
