  Exporting Video
This video highlights exporting opportunities for South Dakota businesses, and is featured at Exporting Awareness workshops being held across the state.

In an effort to get more South Dakota companies exporting products, the GOED, in conjunction with its partners, is holding a series of workshops aimed at helping small businesses open new international markets.

Partners in the effort are: South Dakota International Trade Center, Small Business Administration, U.S. Commercial Service, South Dakota Small Business Development Centers, Great Plains International Trade Association, and the South Dakota Department of Agriculture.

"Exporting product is going to allow South Dakota companies to open vast new markets," said Pat Costello, GOED Commissioner. "More than 70 percent of the world's purchasing power is outside of the United States, and that is definitely something we need to tap into."

The workshops, which run from Oct. 23 to Nov. 8, are 45-60 minutes in length. Dates and locations can be found here.

"So far, turnout has been excellent," said Costello. "I'm very optimistic that we will be able to get more businesses involved in exporting, which in turn, will help grow South Dakota's economy."

This booth will travel alongside the GOED's business development representatives to trade shows in the state's key industries.

The face of trade shows is changing for the GOED as the Minneapolis Medical Device & Manufacturing exposition marked the debut of the office's new booth.

"This project has been a long time coming, and so far, we are very pleased with the results," said GOED Commissioner Pat Costello. "Putting our best foot forward is essential to showcasing South Dakota's business climate to companies in our key industries, and the new display will help us do just that."

The display can be configured to fit a 10-foot or 20-foot space and features a mural of Mount Rushmore and South Dakota's tax litany. The 20-foot version also features photos from select key industries.

Next, the booth will be shipped to Las Vegas for display at the SHOT Show in January.
