Governor Dennis Daugaard meets with site selectors in Chicago earlier this year. Chicago was one of three sites that the governor and the GOED held informational meetings in 2013.

Governor Daugaard and members of the economic development business development team recently sat down to three separate meetings in Chicago, New York and Dallas to meet with nearly 30 site selectors as part of the office’s ongoing efforts to bring businesses into the state.

“Site selectors are a small but important part of our outreach and marketing efforts,” said Commissioner Pat Costello. “When they have a project that would be a good fit for our state, we want to make sure that we are at the top of their list.”

“These meetings are a great opportunity for the GOED to put South Dakota on and keep us on site selectors’ radar screens, and, having the Governor present and on board speaks volumes about the level of commitment that South Dakota can bring to the table,” Costello continued.

The GOED worked in conjunction with the Sioux Falls Development Foundation and the Rapid City Development Corporation on the events.

GOED staff also attended a roundtable discussion with site selectors at the International Economic Development (IEDC) conference this September in Philadelphia and plans are underway to meet with additional site selectors at the Mid-America Economic Development Council’s annual conference this December.
