Reminder to EDCs: Don't Forget To Apply for Property Tax Extemptions

While the tax man’s arrival is many months away, South Dakota economic development corporations need to act now to secure annual property tax exemptions for real property owned by local EDCs.

Most development corporations are eligible to exempt the first $100,000 in real property from property taxes. The deadline is Oct. 31, 2015 to claim the exemption for 2015 property taxes, which are payable in 2016. You will need to file your annual application with the county Director of Equalization.
