Consumers Supply Approved For Reinvestment Payment Program

Thursday, May 29, 2014

Consumers Supply Distributing, LLC, a Sioux City, Iowa, company, will begin construction of its new manufacturing facility in North Sioux City, S.D., later this summer thanks to a reinvestment payment the Board of Economic Development approved earlier this month. The company announced it will also be moving its corporate offices from Dakota Dunes to the Flynn Business Park in North Sioux City, which is where the new manufacturing facility will also be located.

“The Reinvestment Payment Program is ideal for companies looking to expand and add jobs,” said Gov. Dennis Daugaard. “With our low taxes and reasonable regulatory climate, Consumers Supply made the right choice to expand in South Dakota.”

“Consumers Supply is very excited about the move and we intend to break ground as soon as possible,” said company vice president, Dan Patee. “This new expansion is in line with our strategic plan to increase our manufacturing of goods that can flow through our distribution business and out to our customers across the United States and Canada. The Reinvestment Payment Program played a key role in helping our company grow, so it’s nice to have the support from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.”

According to Patee, the new state-of-the-art facility will produce bagged pelleted or texturized feeds in half of the facility and vitamin premixes in the other half. Patee says the expansion is expected to create almost 20 jobs.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Consumers Supply to North Sioux City and Flynn Business Park,” said North Sioux City Economic Development director, Kory Menken. “Value-added agriculture is a significant component of North Sioux City’s economic base and Consumers Supply will be a wonderful addition to our growing business community.”

Consumers Supply has been serving agriculture since 1956 as the premier wholesale distributor of products and services for farmers and ranchers. The company has seen steady growth over the last 50 years and has grown tremendously in the last four.

The Reinvestment Payment Program came out of the 2013 Legislative Session by way of Senate Bill 235, which was a bipartisan effort to address the comprehensive economic development needs of the state. Consumers Supply is the sixth company to be approved for the program.
