YANKTON, S.D. –   Sapa Extrusions, Inc., a part of the Norway-based Sapa Group and a world leader in aluminum solutions, has been approved for a $24,280 South Dakota Jobs grant for its operations in Yankton, S.D., which will help facilitate equipment upgrades, a building expansion and new jobs in its facility.

“The ultimate goal of the SD Jobs grant program is to expand operations or upgrade equipment,” said Pat Costello, Commissioner, Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). “Sapa Extrusions plans on adding 50 full-time positions over the next three years. Job creation is vital to our state’s economy, so whenever we can financially assist a company looking to create jobs, we are happy to award those funds.”

“Our thanks to the GOED for its effort in helping us secure this grant,” said John Clifton, plant manager for Sapa Extrusions. “We are extremely pleased with the support we have received from the State of South Dakota for our expansion. It clearly shows the state’s commitment to South Dakota businesses and job development in our community.”

The city of Yankton has worked closely with Sapa on various infrastructure improvements and land use matters to help accommodate its business plans, according to Amy Nelson, city manager.

“Yankton Area Progressive Growth is grateful to Sapa for its expansion plans and its continued commitment to Yankton,” said Rob Stephenson, chairman of the board of Yankton Area Progressive Growth. “Sapa is important to Yankton’s economy. It’s a strong employer and is an engaged corporate citizen. Sapa supplies components to many South Dakota companies, including several right here in Yankton. We are pleased to be able to assist them with developing aggressive workforce development efforts.”

The Sapa Group is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, and has 23,000 employees in more than 40 countries. The Sapa Group’s purpose is to shape a sustainable future through innovative aluminum solutions.
